Sandy was a Mean Mother

Well we wanted rain and we got it. Hurricane Sandy blew up the eastern seaboard and dump a whole bunch of rain on Ohio.

Flooding out most of NE Ohio's rivers, Sandy forever changed them. When the river's get such a forceful blow much of the river can change.  Your old reliable fishing hole may be a thing of the past or that piece of water you hardly ever fish, may have turned into something special.

Below is a bunch of pictures from over the past week.  Lets hope mother nature doesn't turn down right cold and she gives us more time to hit our local waters.

THANK A VETERAN, IT'S BECAUSE OF THEM WE ENJOY OUR PASSIONS IN LIFE.

The Leaves Have It

High water, no water, low water, nature has been throwing it all at us lately.

If things always stayed the the same would it be any fun?  Tailwater rivers around the globe produce the same temps, bugs, and condtions almost day in and day out, in NE Ohio our freestone rivers keep us guessing.  With ever changing condtions, our rivers help keep our game on point.  Our rivers force us to dig deep into our boxes as water color, level, and conditons continually change.  At times this can be frustrating, sending us home with out the statisfaction of bringing a fish to the net.

As avid fisherman, we should appreciate the fact the mother nature in NE Ohio persuades us to not settle for the same thing day in and day out on the water. We have to ever change our gameplan, bugs, depth, location, and mentality each time we step into the river. Going through this proccess helps us refine our game each time we step into the water.

Here's to a great FALL on The Alley.

Double Down

In the past week, I was fortunate to meet and fish with some great people.
We had some people hook, hold, and release their first steelhead this week. It is always fun watching someone's eyes open up and for them to step into the passion of Steelhead fly fishing. Here's to the young men I met this past week, Charlie, Chase, and Keegan.

The rivers are low and clear with some fish left in them.  Fishing has been ok, nothing great, but still plenty of reason to get out on the water.  The pictures tell the rest of the story.

Doesn't Get Much Better

No words can describe a day on the water, when fish cooperate and you have a couple of great gentleman to share the day with.  George and his son John drove a little over three hours to check out what Cleveland had to offer in the way of steelhead. The day spent with them turned out to be one I won't soon forget.

Big leeches seem to work the best for us, and as the sun rose throughout the day we had to back off on tippet size and go smaller.

There are a lot of pics from yesterday, I tried to narrow it down as best I could.

Thanks Guys,

Owen
